Greece is the Guest Country of Honor in Hainan’s international modern Art Exhibition titled “The Tides of the Century – 2020 Ocean Flower Island International Art Exhibition” which opens today, May 20, 2021. The exhibition, the first one organized at the Ocean Flower Island, features 176 artworks in seven themed sections with works from 95 artists from 24 countries.  Approved by China’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the international exhibition, is organized by the Chinese International Exhibition Agency (CIEA) and cohosted by the Evergrande Fairyland Group and the China Arts and Entertainment Group Ltd. It is expected to run until Dec. 8, 2021 and become one of the biggest art events during this year offering visitors a visual feast not seen since before the pandemic. 

Greece’s participation is the result of the Initiative of Culture Manager Mr. Kostas Konstantinidis and his combined efforts with Curator Ms. Katerina Koskina, who conceived and curated the exhibition “Thesis-Antithesis-Synthesis. In the Belt of Change” (TAS) supported by POLITES. The coordination and production were undertaken by PostScriptum.

Both Greece and China have incorporated the exhibition “Thesis-Antithesis-Synthesis. In the Belt of Change” (TAS) in their official “Greece-China Year of Culture & Tourism 2021” during which both countries aim to deepen their traditional relations, confirm the friendship of the two peoples, expand their cooperation and organize projects in culture and tourism.

The exhibition “Thesis-Antithesis-Synthesis. In the Belt of Change” (TAS) is presented under the Aegis of the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Secretariat General for Public Diplomacy and Greeks Abroad, the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Sports, the Hellenic Ministry of Tourism, the Greek National Tourism Organization and the Municipality of Athens. 

Athens Digital Arts Festival (ADAF) is the Invited Festival at the Exhibition “Thesis-Antithesis-Synthesis – in the Belt of Change” at the International Art Exhibition “The Tides of the Century – 2020 International Art Exhibition” in Hainan Ocean Flower Island, China 2021

At the Entrance Hall of the exhibition, leading to the three main areas, visitors will be able to get a taste of the work of 21 Greek artists exploring the digital world and its extensions.

Greece’s participation through an exhibition of contemporary art titled “Thesis-Antithesis-Synthesis. In the Belt of Change”, conceived and curated by Ms. Katerina Koskina, proposed by PostScriptum was approved by the “The Tides of the Century – 2020 Ocean Flower Island International Art Exhibition”. The Chinese International Exhibition Agency (CIEA) of China’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism organize and the Evergrande Fairyland Group and the China Arts and Entertainment Group Ltd are cohosting the exhibition, expected to run until Dec. 8, 2021 at the Ocean Flower Island Museum in Hainan’s Danzhou city.

The Greek exhibition, will be hosted in a 1500sqm large Βuilding fully dedicated to Greece, and will bring together an eclectic selection of more than 50 works (sculptures, installations, videos, multimedia works, and digital art) by 34 contemporary, pioneer Greek artists or artists of Greek origin as well as emerging artists working with the use of latest technologies.
