CHRYSSA

Born in Athens, she studied at the Academie de la Grande Chaumiere in Paris and then she continued her studies at the California school of Fine Arts in San Francisco. She drew her inspiration from images of modern life in big cities, emphasizing on the linguistic symbols dominating the mass communication media, in printed forms and mostly on the big radiant signs and billboards. Her work, especially with the use of neon, is a typical example of reflection on the modern era and the mass culture. She was particularly interested in the Chinese ideograms on the facades of China Town’s shops.
