POLITES
POLITES is a non-profit civil law corporation founded in 2019 in Athens, Greece. Its main scope is to promote Greek and international contemporary culture and art at a local, national and international level. 

Polites seeks to organize and participate in cultural programs, and support emerging projects that relate to art. It also offers consultation and research in cultural diplomacy, management and curatorial services for cultural events.

It is currently offering consultation services to the municipality of Athens and participates in Cultural Programs funded by the European Commission. The latest project of POLITES, is the Academic Research and the curatorial and museological study of the exhibition ‘Thesis-Antithesis-Synthesis.

Katerina Koskina
Phd in Art History. Art Historian-Museologist and Curator of exhibitions. 

Born in Corfu, she studied French Literature at the University of Athens, as well as History of Art and Philosophy of Art at Paris I, Pantheon-Sorbonne University in Paris. In addition, she studied Greek Literature at Paris IV Sorbonne University and History of Art and Museology at the Ecole du Louvre. She has a PhD in Art History.
Since April 2020 she is the Advisor to the Mayor of Athens on Culture. 
In 2019, she co-founded POLITES a Non-Profit Civil Law Corporation. 

She has served as the Director of the National Museum of Contemporary Art, Athens, from December 2014 to December 2018, as the President of the Administrative Council of the State Museum of Contemporary Art, Thessaloniki (today MOMus), from December 2008 to January 2015. Moreover, she was the Director of the 3rd, 4th and the 5th Thessaloniki Biennale of Contemporary Art (2011-2015). 

From 1992 to 2014 she was the Consultant of the Alpha Bank Art Collection and the Curator and Artistic Director of the J. F. Costopoulos Foundation, Athens. From 1988 to 1992 she worked as a Special Advisor for visual arts and culture to the European Cultural Centre of Delphi.

She was the Curator and Commissioner of the Greek participation at the 23rd Biennale of Sao Paulo in 1996, at the 51st Venice Biennale in 2005 and again, the Commissioner at the 57th Venice Biennale in 2017. She has curated or co curated many International exhibitions such as, ANTIDORON- The EMST Collection, EMST in the world 2 , documenta14, Kassel, At the beginning was the Word, National Arts Museum of China (NAMOC), Beijing, EMST in the world 1, Athens- Antwerp, Jan Fabre Pietas, 54th Venice Biennale, Venice,  Nelly’s From Athens to New York ICP, New York and The Grand Ship, Shizuoka, Japan, EMST in the world 3 La verita e sempre un altra,  Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea, Rome, etc

She has organized, directed, curated and/or co-curated group and one-man shows and contributed essays to several books and exhibition catalogues, as well as articles in newspapers and art magazines.

She was member of the Artistic Committee of the Athens METRO from 1998 to 2011, and Artistic Consultant to the Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games/Athens 2004 S.A. from 2000 to 2004. 

She is a member of ICOM, CIMAM and of AICA Hellas. Since 2018 she is Member of the Administrative Council of Fluxum Foundation, Geneva. 

In 2012 she has been awarded Cavaliere dell’Ordine della Stella d’Italia by the Italian Republic and in 2013 Chevalier dans l’Ordre National de la Legion d’ Honneur by the French Republic.
