Andreas Angelidakis recalls the myth of Diogenes the Cynic, who lived in a ceramic jar – pithos- with his dog, calling out the errors of society and criticized other thinkers. By placing Ancient Greek vases, as modern containers devises signifying movement, communication, alienation and consumption at the centre of his works, he engages with the complexities of the present globalized world. Blurring times, places and movements, the work explores the structures at (and out of) place in modern society and cultures, where the decorated vessels of the past become a sort of ancient social media.
