ROUFANIS Aristotle, Alone Together XV, Giclee Print on Dibond, 300 x 147cm Courtesy of the Artist

The large composite images of his ongoing Alone Together series point out the rise of loneliness as a symptom of the evolution of modern life. The artist photographs the cities he visits. Urban habitats and the loneliness of city dwellers are surprisingly the same wherever you go. Composition and light balance in these works are more about organisation of content: which windows are kept illuminated within the sea of dark anonymous apartment buildings, and what do they contain? Glimpses of the everyday life in modern apartment blocks are transformed into dramatic events full of emotional tension.
