HADJIGEORGIOU Yioula, By Pass, 2020, video projection, Courtesy of State Gallery of Contemporary Cypriot Art, Nicosia

Using the most natural materials and simple technical methods Hadjigeorgiou transforms the tangible, everyday reality into a poetic image. In “By pass” she uses the ashes in thick layers and moves it with an invisible mechanism to create mournful utopian landscapes. Ash comes to life with motion, creates imaginary, utopian mappings and is linked with the concepts of the recycling of death into life, as well as to the ever-changing borders of the territories, while the position of the globe in the galaxy, where remains are found unchanged.
