XAGORARIS Pantelis, Untitled, 1973, Ink on rice paper, 100.7 x 70 cm, Donated by Zafos Xagoraris 1984, National Museum of Contemporary Art, Athens (EMST)

Working at the intersections of mathematics, technology, science and art the artist used complex mathematical equations to produce artistic work even before he had access to a computer himself.  Exploring the geometries of technology and experimenting with new media, while being heavily influenced from ancient Greek philosophy as well as Bauhaus, he experimented with new media in the 70s and charted ways of interacting artistically with the uncharted territory of the machines. These three works, are indicative of the artist’s oeuvre, and can be seen as evidence of early experimentation of artists with technology and its systems
